Shillong Teer is an extremely popular archery based lottery game played in Meghalaya. This game is played Monday through Saturday and Sunday is a public holiday. It is organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association, a consortium of 12 archery clubs at the Polo Ground in Shillong. Shillong Teer is a legal lottery governed by the rules of the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Act, 1982. Those who wish to participate in this lottery can purchase the tickets at the price of Re 1 at Rs 100 at any store in lottery allowed across the state.
The winning numbers for the first and second rounds of this lottery are announced on Meghalaya Teer’s official website – meghalayater.com at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. The winning numbers for the first and second rounds were 53 and 54 respectively on October 25 (Monday).
50 archers are allowed to shoot a maximum of 30 arrows in the first round and 20 arrows in the second round. Participants are expected to complete a shooting round in 2 minutes. Those who participate in this lottery must correctly guess the number of arrows shot in one of the two or both rounds to win huge cash prizes.
The participant who correctly guesses the number in the first round will receive Rs 80 for each Re 1 bet while the winner of the second round will receive Rs 60 for each Re 1 bet. The person who manages to correctly guess the numbers of both rounds or who gets a prognosis obtains Rs 4,000 for the bet Re 1.
Juwai Teer, Khanapara Teer, and Ladrymbai Teer are extremely popular archery-based lottery sports with the exception of Shillong Teer played in Meghalaya.
