The festival starts on November 18
Replicas of traditional Emirati neighborhoods, roller coasters and fireworks are among the few things awaiting visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Festival this year.
The festival will take place from November 18, 2021 to April 1, 2022. This year’s edition includes thousands of recreational, educational and cultural events, all of which will be held with the necessary Covid-19 safety protocols in place.
Visitors will experience the Year of the 50th Zone, which is home to a unique art gallery showcasing the UAE’s journey over the past 50 years. It also highlights the aspirations of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his clear vision for building a bright future for the UAE.
The festival also allocated pavilions, exhibits and traditional neighborhood areas to showcase UAE civilization and various aspects of its culture and heritage.
Here is the schedule of activities.
>> Replicas of traditional neighborhoods: The festival features replicas of traditional neighborhoods from different nations and civilizations around the world, each reflecting different aspects of those cultures, such as architectural heritage, markets, products and traditional aesthetics.
>> Emirates fountain: The first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, the Emirates Fountain is intended to be one of the most popular areas of the festival. It features internationally themed water shows, daily laser displays, and 3D holograms, all to popular music.
>> Bungee jumping, zipline and more: For the first time, Al Forsan International Sports Resort joins the festival with a variety of exciting sporting activities for the whole family, including karting, shooting, ax throwing, archery, driving and flight simulations, bungee jumping and trampoline, zipline lines, radio controlled cars, horse riding arena and many more.
>> Fairground town: A huge amusement park, Funfair City is designed for visitors of all ages and offers a variety of rides, including roller coasters.
>> Special equestrian presentations: Special presentations showing the grace and beauty of purebred Arabian horses will take place. These horses carry deep connotations of traditions in Arab history and are a symbol of authenticity and beauty, as well as pony and camel rides.
>> Fireworks: Visitors and the population around Al Wathba will be dazzled by spectacular fireworks displays at 9 p.m. every Friday. It will be accompanied by lively music, water fountains and laser shows – the spectacle that has entered the famous Book of World Records.
>> Gifts galore: Visitors will have thousands of opportunities to win valuable prizes, thanks to its numerous daily contests and raffles, including the raffles of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed International Festival for Arabian Horses.
